Halle Berry Stuns In White At 95th Academy Awards

Oscar winner Halle Berry attended the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 12th, with her musician boyfriend Van Hunt in a stunning Tamara Ralph gown.

The actress was on hand to present the Best Actor and Best Actress trophies alongside last year's winner Jessica Chastain after Will Smith was banned from the ceremony.

Berry became emotional after Michelle Yeoh was announced as the winner. The moment was history-making given that Yeoh became the second woman of color to ever receive the Best Actress honor. The first was Berry, who won back in 2002 for 'Monster's Ball'.

Halle Berry Tops Most Googled Dress List At Academy Awards

Oscars 2017: The Most Googled Dresses of the Night

We’ve been tracking every hair change, every surprising tuxedo moment, and of course, choosing our Best Dressed picks of the night. But according to Google, there are nine stars everyone at home wants to see. Halle Berry topped the list, followed by Meryl Streep (no doubt following her recent drama stirred up with Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld!). Nicole Kidman came up second (not a surprise following her entire awards season style reign). But were so many other surprising star searches, we rounded up each red carpet moment, below.

1. Halle Berry made a return to the Oscars red carpet after a few years away in shimmering style, teaming her sexy, form-fitting Atelier Versace gown with Forevermark jewelry and voluminous curls. “The dress is glamorous with a sense of romance that made me feel feminine and fresh. With this look, I celebrate my natural hair by allowing it to be wild and free,” she told Vogue.

2. Streep’s red carpet choice gained attention after Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld told WWD that he was creating a custom gown for the actress, but at the last minute, she passed to go with a designer who would pay her to wear their designs. She denied the accusations and arrived in a custom embellished Elie Saab Haute Couture gown featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline and long train.

3. Nicole Kidman has been a favorite all awards season and ended her style streak on a high note with her custom Armani Privé gown with arabesque embroidery and Harry Winston jewelry.

4. Emma Stone chose a dress she could certainly dance around in with her gold fringe Givenchy Haute Couture gown with Tiffany & Co. earrings and ring.

5. Janelle Monáe made a dramatic arrival to the carpet in her highly-embellished ball gown with exaggerated skirt.

6. Jessica Biel sparkled like the Oscars statue in a KaufmanFranco column with a Tiffany & Co. necklace.

7. Hailee Steinfeld wore her favorite dress of awards season in romantic floral-print gown with high ruffled neckline and Neil Lane jewelry.

8. Alicia Vikander was a red carpet darling last season, and returned with a stylish flourish in a tiered black Louis Vuitton gown with strappy sandals.

9. Priyanka Chopra went with a white column gown featuring a geometric motif paired with Lorraine Schwartz cuffs.

10. Kirsten Dunst recycled her favorite Christian Lacroix heels from 2007, with her dreamy Dior Haute Couture ballgown featuring a high-low train.

Halle Berry Attends 89th Academy Awards In Atelier Versace

Halle Berry is no stranger to making a statement on the Oscars red carpet and this year, the Academy Award winner showed up in a custom sheer and sparkly one-shoulder Atelier Versace gown at the 89th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, California. Read what the actress and her longtime stylist Lindsay Flores had to say about the look beneath:

Halle Berry Shut Down the Oscars Red Carpet in Atelier Versace

“There is nothing better than being able to collaborate with my best friend,” said actress Halle Berry of Lindsay Flores, her stylist of 20 years. “Lindsay has always been able to understand my individual sense of style. Her keen eye, and elevated sense of fashion, takes my style to the next level. Simply put, she’s my secret weapon!” And tonight, as Berry took to the Oscars dressed in a blush pink Atelier Versace dress, Vince Camuto shoes, and Forevermark jewelry, it was clear just how impactful that fashion connection is.

“We really responded to this Atelier Versace gown because it embodied the perfect balance of classic Oscar glamour met with a modern rock and roll edge,” said Flores. “Halle has a personal relationship with Donatella and has worn both Donatella and Gianni [designs] over the years. The Versace aesthetic is all about strong and powerful women, which is so intrinsically Halle.” The resulting dress featured intricate embellishments that worked to flatter the 50-year-old’s gorgeous body. It was an especially great fit for Berry, whose red-carpet style has always tended toward bold and beautiful. “I have always marched to the beat to my own drum, and I think this red-carpet look encapsulates that,” said Berry. “The dress is glamorous with a sense of romance that made me feel feminine and fresh. With this look, I celebrate my natural hair by allowing it to be wild and free.”

Working with Castillo Bataille from TACK Artist Group on her coiffure and Kara Yoshimoto Bua on her makeup-free face, Berry’s final look was composed and striking. Where other finishing touches were concerned, such as red-carpet jewelry, Berry and Flores had a chic, less-is-more approach. “I generally choose something gorgeous but minimal,” said Berry. “This year I found the perfect jewelry that really enhances my dress perfectly.” Having collaborated together for almost two decades, does the pair have any favorite moments? “The Elie Saab dress I won my Oscar in!” said Berry. For her part, Flores cited the Monique Lhuillier ensemble the actress sported to the 2013 BET Awards. “It is more about how I feel in the dress than anything else,” said Berry. “I just have to feel my best self.” And tonight, Berry and Flores proved the power of the right dress yet again.
